I don't understand at all.

Could we have screenshot (maybe with the demo gallery or with your gallery) and some links to detail want exactly you want?

Ok. I shall try to explain what PvvS asked furthermore.

We have a site about public transport and every time we add pictures, we do not only add them into the gallery, but we are putting a link on the main webpage, clicking which you see only those pictures which are new in that update. To be able to list this in the gallery through one link we were adding the date of update as the date of making the picture. Then we found the day in the callendar and there were all the pictures we updated, but they were in the cathegories, so we could link a whole cathegory. That enabled us to do for example two updates of two various cathegories in a day and each link was linking to one of the cathegories in the callendar that day.

an example :

I have ten pictures in 1 update, named pic1.jpg-pic10.jpg. 5 are from cathegory A and 5 from cathegory B. All have the date 31/01/2008.

In the old cathegory if I clicked the callendar, then the january and 31., I had these subcathegories listed: All pictures, Cathegoy A, Cathegory B - and after opening one of these I got all the pictures or only pictures from 31.01.2008 in cathegory A or those from cathegory B.

Now after finding the year 2008, january and 31. I find all the pictures from pic1.jpg till pic10.jpg listed, so I cant create a link for only those which are from this date but are only from one of the cathegories (A or B)

Doesn't work. When I copy the link the URL is the same as when I copy the URL of the cathegory - the first time when I click the recent, find the cathegory where the new pictures are, I see only the new pictures. But when I copy the link and paste it into the update, then it leads to the cathegory without filtering only the new pictures.

If I use the Icon of 31, it doesn't work either - the results are same as in the callendar - The cathegories are not shown, only the pictures updated that day.

Ok, this is an example. Pvvs has installed the old gallery and you can look at this now :

In the old callendar if you clicked on 2008, then february, then the date (2.), you got this :

here you see that the pictures are showing up in cathegories named after the cathegories where they were loaded into : abusy / Trbusy

the new version of galery doesn't support this (or doesn't look like that) and looks like this :
