When uploading images why does the creation date not use the dropdowns like when editting an image? Is this an error, oversight or is it not that way for a reason?

For example when uploading an image you only see one text field for creation date but when editing an image you have the option of a dropdown for day and month and then a text field for year.

Because current Upload code is the oldest one in the gallery and we plan to recode that part in next release.

Would it work to just copy the code from the edit image file over to the upload file or is it more difficult than that?

I would say: yes.

In fact, upload code is very basic.
And we can add a lot of controls and functions.

You can do it, if you are php coder and familar with template systems.
Otherwise forget.

Well I'm definitely not a coder but I know how to backup files for when I mess them up. As for the template system...hmmm we'll just have to see. lol I've already started playing with the CSS.
