Simple Copyright throwing error with certain jpgs

Hello,

I am using the Simple Copyright extension. Thank you very much for making this extension available.

It has been very well-behaved on my test site, that is to say, it works and works well. All of the uploaded jpgs are from an iPhone 12 mini, however today I uploaded some jpegs from my Sony a6400.

The picture(s) were originally RAW and exported out as jpg from Darktable. I can view the exported jpgs, with no problem using Preview or another jpg viewer. But, when I upload the picture(s) to my Piwigo site these photos throw up an error along the top of the site as follows:

Warning: exif_read_data(20240401182545-29635c89.jpg): Incorrect APP1 Exif Identifier Code in /var/www/piwigo__3/plugins/SimpleCopyright/image.php on line 26

No other photos show this error

I have put an iPhone photo and the a6400, both jpegs are in an album called TEST ALBUM, which is a public gallery,

I have to de-activate the Simple Copyright plug in to avoid the error.

Many thanks and best wishes

Re: Simple Copyright throwing error with certain jpgs

Hello again

I might have found the problem!

jpegs exported out of Darktable don't have any metadata attached so I'm guessing that's the reason Simple Copyright is throwing an error.

I used the same RAW image and exported it out from Sony's "IEDT Desktop" software. When you export out of that software all of the metadata is attached and Simple Copyright shows no error in Piwigo.

I have joined the Darktable forum to see if they have a resolution. I have left the Public gallery at my site to show the difference if anyone is interested.

Thanks and sorry for being a bit too previous!

Re: Simple Copyright throwing error with certain jpgs

SOLVED.

Operator error in Darktable! My fault. In Darktable you can select what metadata you eat included in the export. I missed that bit and assumed that it would just happen... Doh!

Best wishes all
