We don't support in any way release candidate but you can of course play with it to help you managing the 2.1 release.

What do you mean exactly ? Do we must understand that piwigo is just a part of the website ? If it's the case you can of course od it. Look at piwigo.org, there's a gallery
(http://piwigo.org/demo), a wiki, a forum of course, a bug tracker,... You make a design and you can apply it to piwigo.

I think the best way if you are not so familar with template files is to start with a theme which is similar to yours in terms of architecture. The new theme architecture make life a beginners simplier. You just have to put in your directory theme only the files that you modifiy from the theme you based your theme. If you just want to modify the picture page, just put the picture.tpl file in a theme directory and it's finish. I simplify but it's almost that !

I only see a specific top menu to add. Is that right?
If it is, so it is really simple to do.


Configuration > General > Main (sheet)
Page banner:   HTML and Javascript are accepted there, do what you want for example append a mapped image menu.

The left menu and login form are standard, provided they are not hidden by the theme you've activated.
