Thumbnails for Sub-Categories?

Hi

I'm using PhpWebGallery Revision: 1386 combined with Photon v4.0 to run the pictures side of a pesonal blog with some categories and sub-categories.

Is there any way to get a Parent Category Main Page to show the Thumbnails & Information for Sub-Categories, even if the Parent Category has images in it?

Currently, if the Parent Category has images in it, it only shows the images from that category and does not show any Info Boxes for Sub-Categories. Whereas if the Parent Category has no images in it but has Sub-Categories with images in them, then it shows the Info Box with Thumb + No of Pics etc.

People can use the menu / sidebar to navigate through the cats & sub-cats, but with the space limitations imposed by the WordPress blog template, I'm trying to get the pictures navigation almost completely thumbnail clicking driven :-)

Does this make sense? If not, please LMK & I'll post some URLs with example.

BTW - thanks for the great script. Pretty easy to set-up and manage :-)

It makes sense, but it is not possible unless you go and modify the code.

Re: Thumbnails for Sub-Categories?

rvelices,

Could we say that a team member has made a proposal (french side (*)) for a second box in content maybe to handle that point?
I don't know exactly if it was his idea (his idea was larger than this topic idea).
Don't you think so?

Re: Thumbnails for Sub-Categories?

I'm having the same 'problem' as Jeremy. I would really like it too. The french item is not quite readable to me. My french isn't that good.

Question: is anyone involved in 'solving' this matter or is it too difficult to resolve?

Tia!

Re: Thumbnails for Sub-Categories?

The problem is different, in fact.
Currently, we didn't address that point...
I hope someone would handle it for 1.8 release.

As far as I know, nobody is working on this issue. There is no technical problem I think, it is much more an organisational problem. Take a look at the section "Mother Vs daughter" in [wiki] Categories management.

Re: Thumbnails for Sub-Categories?

You can say "Thanks" to Rvelices who did it for 1.7.
1.7 would be available in few weeks.

Re: Thumbnails for Sub-Categories?

I downloaded (and installed) Alligator02 yesterday and that didn't do what I wanted. Looking at the announcements I see that 1.7.0RC1 is available and of course I downloaded and installed on the fly.

To my surprise the result was (almost) what I wanted. Tripple hoorah for Rvelices for realising this feature. And lets not forget the rest of you guys for this marvellent piece of 'artwork'. Cheers!

p.s. Is 1.7.0RC1 stable enough for 'official' release or should I just keep it on my localhost untill the official version is released?

Re: Thumbnails for Sub-Categories?

Stable? We think so.
But we don't intend to provide migration procedure and usualy any kind of support except during beta testing period.
Please use Beta testing forum to report any problem related to that one.
