Database table piwigo_activity - what is it for?

Hi everyone!

I keep studying Piwigo :)
Today learned how to backup the database!

And was surprised that a half of all database records are in the table "piwigo_activity" - for all my thousands of photos there are records when they were added to the database...

What is the purpose of keeping all this information? If I delete all (or most) records in this table, will anything crash?

Is there any setting to avoid writing this info to the database?

Sorry if my questions sound stupid :)

Re: Database table piwigo_activity - what is it for?

Hi neon,

There is no stupid question :-)

Table activity mainly stores "admin actions" like album additions, user edits, photo deletions... Highly interesting when working as a team. Less interesting if you're a solo administrator.

You can truncate it whenever you want without breaking Piwigo. We haven't implemented any configuration setting to deactivate this activity log because I think it's not that big (compared to the history table).
