I've had nothing but problems since upgrading to Piwigo 13.x, and none of the topics I've seen in the github issues or in this forum have helped me resolve them.
Piwigo 12.x worked fine for me. I would like to downgrade Piwigo back to some minor version of the 12.x line while preserving as much of my album structure, metadata, comments, etc as possible. That way I can start from a working install and troubleshoot further, or stay at version 12.x with a working install.
How should I proceed? I've found old guides about downgrading, but nothing within the last few years. I also haven't seen a list of "gotchas" to watch out for, which I'd like to have if anyone can share. Obviously I've backed up the piwigo directory and database.
Thanks for your help!

Easy : restore your backup.
Less easy : restore your 12.x Piwigo application files, over the 13.4. The changes in the database should not be a problem. The new table colums will simply be ignored.

Thank you @plg. I should have been clearer: I have a backup of my 13.4 (current) install, but no longer have the backup of the pre-13.x install. I've changed a lot since the upgrade to 13 so I'm not sure I'd want to try to go back in time even if I could. So it looks to me like forging ahead with installing a 12.x version over top my current 13.4 install is the way to go. I'll give that a try and probably be back if it doesn't help.
